It was my mums 60thbirthday yesterday, and so I tribute this post to her. To her amazing smile, astounding attitude, strength of character (Grace Jones step back) and her sense of style that far surpasses fashion's fleeting trends.
With the help of friend and fellow blogger Sartoriology I recreated this pic taken of my mother in 1965 at the tender age of 15. I have to say in no picture of me at the age of 15 did I look this chic!I absolutely love this pic, the rolled up sleeves, the slightly askew stance, the super-sleek sunnies - its all very Katherine Hepburn-esq.
I've put a modern spin on look with YSL shades, Dottie P army jacket, Marc Jacobs twisted top, Topshop waist belt, Iceberg 'Giraffe' suede skirt, Office pony skin platforms heels, leopard-print Jimmy Choo clutch.
I have been neglecting you. I feel bad. Between the move, photoshoots - one for LaRedoute, the other for showmeyourwardobe (more to come on this later)and the fact that time won’t slow down no matter how nicely I ask it, I just haven’t been able to give you the love and attention you so desperately need. I will be back as soon, I promise but in the time being enjoy these beautiful images that warm up my cockles and make me smile.....
Check out the new site, Do it in Paris. It's a chic little site that will keep you abreast of fashion, beauty, resturants, recipes, where to go and where to shop... blah blah blah . It's great but what love about it are the illustrations. Decked in the lastest wears with the chicest poses and with the poutiest of lips the Do-It-in-Paris girls are everything you wish you were and Fendi bag more!
The glamourous and sexy Princesse tam.tam ensemble worn with a good looking man's shirt in cotton poplin from the prestigious Charvet house.
The contrast between the Dior masculine tuxedo jacket and the small fluid and colorful, totally feminine dress from the last Spring-Summer 09 Christian Dior show.
The very Audrey Hepburn look of the little black dress from the last Yves Saint Laurent 2009 Spring-Summer fashion show. The African touch of the last Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 09 show to accessorize the must-have one-piece jumpsuit of this Summer.
I meant to post this last week but due to a sudden bout of amnesia I totally forgot, pathetic… Anyways V Magazine's Summer swimsuit issue shot by Mario Testino is HOT HOT HOT and features models Gisele Bundchen, Eva Herizgova, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Daria Werbowy.
I Loooves it, you should too!
P.S. You can read the V for free HERE! Now you've really gotta love the good folk at V!
I am not an advertiser’s dream. I ask too many questions, I am far too cynical and these days, just plain old cheap. This is because in my head, I can hear the ‘conversations’ that went before most of the stuff that we are visually slapped with daily. I always imagine the conversation as a slightly condescending chat as between a schmaltzy Exec. and a slightly camp creative. Suffice it to say, before the 'message' gets to me I have turned off and I am tuned out. BUT I love a good Ad, one that A) doesn't assumer the 'viewer' is a24-year-hot-dog-eating-drop-out with EastEnders as the cultural highlight of his or her day. B, is that’s cleverly disguised in a savvy package like medicine in candy or conversely, one that gives it is given to me straight – no B.S, no chasers. At its best, a good Ad silences the voices and what is left is pure creativity and this little piece of advertising fonder, I can happily chump at. In fact, I love the September issues of magazines (well known for its overflowing of Ads campaigns). I think promo ads if done well should be a snapshot of the runway show or one that goes on to build upon the central theme. The runway and ad campaign ties together and presents in a little neat Lanvin-esq style bow the designers intent, which leads me to the whole point of this blog. I absolutely love-love-love the campaign shots for Japanese brand ICB photographed by one of my very favourite photogs Terry Richardson Entitled “Girls Love the Pink Panther”.
It so cool it freaking hurts....
and some old and not so old but ad campaigns that will be forever ingrained in my mind.
and some videos ('cause, as you know, I'm all about the videos!)

not exactly fashion this advert totally embodies everything I love about my youth, the nineties and the image of the lady in red (with the boucy 80's perm) is absolutely brandished on my mind.
PSST!!!!
Chanel No 5 launches internet film campaign
French film actress Audrey Tautou, famous for her role in Amelie, has become the muse in a Chanel No. 5 film, directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet.
While in the past, Chanel No. 5 commercials ran on TV and in the cinema, this is the first time a Chanel marketing campaign has kicked off on the internet, launching online globally on 5 May 2009.
Chanel No. 5 perfume is described as sensual, intimate, luxurious, and the new film portrays No. 5 women of today as serene, enchanting and free.
